SINA SABERI (Tehran) – DAMNOOSH
Sina Saberi ci invita ad una cerimonia del tè, ci fa sedere e ci offre sette erbe, provenienti da altrettante parti dell’Iran, una per ogni storia che ci sarà narrata.
Damnoosh è un viaggio nella memoria e nasce da un bisogno di unità, di condivisione di un momento conviviale. Riunisce narrazioni, poesie, musica e persone per comunicare elementi della cultura iraniana attraverso il semplice atto quotidiano della preparazione del tè.
In questo lavoro la danza è un concetto, un oggetto, immaginato collettivamente insieme al pubblico, che è parte integrante di questo rituale.
Dopo che tutti avranno bevuto il tè magico, alla fine dello spettacolo, una danza perduta tornerà lentamente alla memoria.

Dopo aver lavorato all’Agenzia per i Rifugiati a Tehran, Sina Siberi si avvicina al teatro fisico con Jacques Lecoq e Laleh Alavi e alla danza contemporanea con Atefeh Tehrani.
Con un gruppo di giovani artisti fonda il collettivo MaHa con cui crea nel 2015 la performance No. 3, Teheran. Dall’incontro con Omar Rajeh, direttore di Maqamat Dance Theatre, nasce una collaborazione per la realizzazione di Zaafaran. Nel 2016 con MaHa organizza Body Movement, il primo festival ufficiale di danza in Iran.

Sina Siberi studied with Jacques Lecoq, Laleh Alavi and Atefeh Tehrani. He is one of the founder of MaHa Collective, creator of the performance No. 3, Teheran. After meeting Omar Rajeh, artistic director of Maqamat Dance Theatre, they starts the collaboration for Zaafaran. In 2016 with MaHa organizes Body Movement, first official dance festival in Iran.
Sina Saberi invites a to a tea ceremony: seven herbs from seven different corners of Iran are chosen, each representing either a personal story or a part of history. Sometimes this history is directly related to the history of dance in Iran.
Damnoosh is created out of a need for oneness. It’s a moment of presence in frame of an alternative performance using dance as an object. It brings story-telling, poetry, music & people together to communicate cultural notions from Iran through a simple, daily act of making tea.
There is little movement happening from the side of the dancer. In this piece, the dance is more of a concept, an object, often imagined collectively together with the audience who is part of this engaging ritual. The artist’s grandmother’s lost dance is slowly remembered towards the end of the piece, as the audience have all drank the magical tea. Each time the dance is remembered a little more together with the people.
