TUTTOIN1GIORNO Danza Festival – Masterclass di danza

Eduardo Torroja condurrà il workshop di TUTTOIN1GIORNO Danza Festival, attingendo dal repertorio dalla performance “What The Body Does Not Remember” (la prima produzione di Ultima Vez del 1987). I partecipanti potranno esplorare e confrontarsi con l’energetico vocabolario di Vandekeybus attraverso lavoro a terra, con partner e di contatto, e il movimento come un “atto teatrale” piuttosto che come tecnica.

Eduardo Torroja nasce a Madrid, dove studia danza e teatro. Nel 1986 si trasferisce a Brussels per collaborare come assistente coreografo e performer di Wim Vandekeybus per la prima produzione della compagnia Ultima Vez “What The Body Does Not Remember” (1987), “Les Porteuses de Mauvaises Nouvelles” (1989), “The Weight of a Hand” (1990) e il film “Roseland” (1991).
Negli anni ’90 lavora con Rosas – Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker in “Erts” e “Mozart -Concertaria’s: Un Moto di Gioia”. E anche con Needcompany – Jan Lauwers – Grace Ellen Barkey in “Rood-Red-Rouge”, “Morning Song”, “The Miraculous Mandarin”, “Caligula” e “King Lear”.
Firma la coreografia di “Starmania”, un’opera rock franco canadese diretta da Lewis Furey (1993-2000). Segue e coordina le prove e il riallestimento “What The Body Does Not Remember” (1995, 2002 e 2012) e “Les Porteuses de Mauvaises Nouvelles” (2004).
Successivamente intraprende l’insegnamento di “Hands” (P.A.R.T.S. – Brussels e IT Dansa – Barcelona), “Frisking” (State School of Athens e Ballet des Jeunes d’Europe) e un duo da “Les Porteuses de Mauvaises Nouvelles” (Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris) e ha condotto i workshop di Ultima Vez a Leuven, Volgograd, Brussels, Madrid, Amsterdam, Seville, Rotterdam, Lisbon, etc.
Nel 2000 torna a Madrid e comincia a lavorare come attore in film, tv e produzioni teatrali, come assistente alla regia per film e torna spesso a Brussels per diversi progetti: ad esempio, come assistente artistico per Ultima Vez “Blush” (2002) e “Sonic Boom” (2003)

Edouardo Torroja will led the TUTTOIN1GIORNO Dance festival Masterclass drawing from the repertoire of the performance ‘What the body does not remember’ (the first performance of Ultima Vez of 1987). Participants will explore and confront Vandekeybus’ energetic vocabulary through floorwork, partner- and contact work, and movement as a ‘theatrical act’ rather than as a ‘technique’.

Born in Madrid, Spain, where he studied dance and theatre. In 1986 moved to Brussels to collaborate with Wim Vandekeybus as a choreography assistant, trainer and performer for the very first Ultima Vez productions “What The Body Does Not Remember”(1987), “Les Porteuses de Mauvaises Nouvelles”(1989), “The Weight of a Hand”(1990) and the film “Roseland”(1991).

During the nineties, he worked with Rosas – Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker in “Erts” and “Mozart -Concertaria’s: Un Moto di Gioia”. And also with Needcompany – Jan Lauwers – Grace Ellen Barkey in “Rood-Red-Rouge”, “Morning Song”, “The Miraculous Mandarin”, “Caligula” and “King Lear”.

He signed the choreography of “Starmania”, a french-canadian rock opera directed by Lewis Furey (1993-2000). He led the rehearsals and the restaging of “What The Body Does Not Remember” (1995, 2002 and 2012) and “Les Porteuses de Mauvaises Nouvelles”(2004).

He has undertaken the teaching of “Hands” (P.A.R.T.S. – Brussels and IT Dansa – Barcelona), “Frisking” (State School of Athens and Ballet des Jeunes d’Europe) and a duo from “Les Porteuses de Mauvaises Nouvelles” (Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris) and has given Ultima Vez repertoire workshops in Leuven, Volgograd, Brussels, Madrid, Amsterdam, Seville, Rotterdam, Lisbon, etc.

In 2000 he moved back to Madrid and since then he is acting in film, TV and theatre productions, assisting director for films and going back to Brussels for different projects: artistic assistant for Ultima Vez “Blush”(2002) and “Sonic Boom”(2003)…
